UTM – At the Heart of Aspiring Youth: 5 Weeks of Inspiration and Discovery During the National “Study in Moldova” Campaign

The Technical University of Moldova, through its Career Counseling and Guidance Center (CCOC), enthusiastically joined the “Study in Moldova” campaign – an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, aimed at encouraging high school graduates to pursue their studies at home, in a high-quality educational environment, close to family and friends.

Over the course of five weeks, from March 15 to April 12, 2025, the CCOC organized a series of events in the form of Academic Opportunities Fairs, designed to bring the university closer to graduating students from across the country – a true caravan of knowledge and opportunity.

Mixed teams of students and faculty from UTM set out to reach every region of the country, traveling to 10 key districts, with dual regional coverage on Saturdays. Each encounter sparked lively and meaningful discussions, offering high schoolers essential information about UTM’s academic programs and a real sense of student life at the university.

Meeting calendar:

  • March 15: Edineț (500 students) and Hâncești (800 students)
  • March 22: Soroca (500 students) and Căușeni (600 students)
  • March 29: Bălți (600 students) and Călărași (600 students)
  • April 5: Orhei (600 students) and Cahul (430 students)
  • April 12: Strășeni (400 students) and Comrat (400 students)

Over 5,000 young people from across the country had direct contact with the UTM world, discovering unique professional development opportunities in engineering, creative, scientific, and applied fields.

Each faculty contributed with exciting demonstrations and interactive workshops designed to spark curiosity and passion among the students:

The Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications impressed with Arduino-controlled mini-tanks, electronic clocks, and lab kits – a world of innovation and electronics where imagination turns into technology.

The Faculty of Energy and Electrical Engineering showcased a Tesla Coil, an electric maze, and simulated power systems, giving students a glimpse into the future of energy.

The Faculty of Food Technology offered masterclasses on making natural lipstick, analyzing sugar in food, and interactive nutrition games – a laboratory of health and responsibility.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport introduced students to precessional transmissions and demonstration systems – applied engineering at its finest.

The Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning drew attention with models, parametric sculptures, and abstract paintings – a mobile gallery of engineering creativity intertwined with sustainability and aesthetics.

The Faculty of Construction, Geodesy, and Cadastre presented cutting-edge devices for testing material strength – technologies that teach future engineers how to build for the long term.

The Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business challenged students to explore how engineering thinking meets entrepreneurial spirit. Through interactive simulations and dynamic presentations of its programs, students learned how they could become managers, economists, or business analysts capable of turning ideas into real, sustainable projects.

The Faculty of Design showed students that dreams can take shape, color, and texture right at UTM, impressing them with displays of miniature traditional costumes, product models, and accessories.

The Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences engaged students with microscopy demonstrations, evaluations of agricultural product quality, and methods for detecting milk adulteration – science applied in service of the environment and sustainable agriculture.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine won over students with digital microscopes, which revealed cellular and tissue structures, interactive anatomical animal models, and hands-on demonstrations of veterinary procedures. These experiences highlighted the importance of a noble profession where compassion meets scientific knowledge, and care for animal health becomes a key social responsibility.

More than just presentations, these encounters gave high schoolers the chance to ask questions, try out equipment, take part in experiments, and imagine their future as UTM students. The desire to stay in the country, to study close to loved ones, and to contribute to Moldova’s development was the common thread that tied all these events together.

The “Study in Moldova” campaign achieved its goal, and UTM further cemented its role as a pillar of engineering education in the country. Through this academic caravan, the university not only showcased its programs but also inspired – with enthusiasm, professionalism, and authenticity – a new generation of young people to believe in their country’s potential.

At the Technical University of Moldova, dreams are turned into reality through science, innovation, and passion. Here, every student is an investment in the future of the Republic of Moldova.
