Head of the Department of Scientific Research Management

I. Mission and Objectives

Research and innovation activities at the Technical University of Moldova are coordinated by the Department of Scientific Research Management (DSRM), the administrative unit responsible for managing scientific research and technological development activities under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for Research.

The Department manages and monitors national and international research projects, innovation and technology transfer projects, and supports the establishment of new research structures.

It also provides support for national and international research funding applications, as well as the organization of scientific seminars, conferences, congresses, and national and international exhibitions.

A key annual event is the Technical and Scientific Conference of UTM academic staff, doctoral students, and students, whose proceedings are published each year in three volumes.

The Department conducts internal evaluations of research performance and coordinates relations with national research evaluation and accreditation bodies.

Main objectives of research at UTM:

  • Ensuring high-quality engineering education.
  • Training highly qualified researchers through doctoral and postdoctoral studies.
  • Providing scientific support to the national economy.
  • Implementing national research programmes.

II. Areas of Activity

The Technical University of Moldova has been nationally accredited in the field of science and innovation under the Code on Science and Innovation of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Accreditation Commission Decision No. AC-4/1 of 31 May 2012, UTM received the highest accreditation rating:

Experimental Base and Innovation Incubator

UTM operates the experimental base ETALON, which functions as a self-financed research facility.

An important component of research and technology transfer is the POLITEHNICA Innovation Incubator, established through a partnership between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

Research Visibility

The Department supports the participation of UTM researchers in prestigious international research, innovation and technology transfer exhibitions.

UTM research has been presented at more than 100 international exhibitions, earning over 200 gold, silver and bronze medals, more than 40 special awards, and numerous personal distinctions.

Since 1995, the engineering journal "Meridian Ingineresc" has promoted engineering research conducted at UTM and partner institutions in Moldova and abroad.

The Department carries out its activities through one division and five specialised services:

IV. DSRM Staff

The DSRM staff consists of full-time employees (researchers, engineers and technicians) and academic staff from UTM departments, laboratories and research centres who carry out research activities on a part-time basis.

The Department's staffing structure is approved in accordance with the legislation in force.

The Department is headed by the Director, assisted by a Deputy Director and a Head of Division.
