Composition of the Senate
Senate members are elected for a five-year term by secret ballot during the general assemblies of faculties and departments. Student and doctoral candidate representatives are elected by secret ballot for a one-year term.
The composition of the Senate for the 2021–2026 term was established in accordance with the Framework Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of Governing Bodies of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Moldova and the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the Senate of the Technical University of Moldova.

Powers and Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with the principles of academic freedom and university autonomy;
- Drafts and approves the University Charter, the UTM Internal Regulations, and the Code of Ethics and Academic Conduct;
- Approves the Strategic Development Plan of UTM;
- Approves the Rector's annual report on the University's financial, academic, research, and educational activities;
- Approves the University's budget and oversees its implementation;
- Approves study plans and academic curricula;
- Approves the University's organizational and functional structure;
- Confers the academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor;
- Confers the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa;
- Reviews and approves awards and distinctions for academic staff and students.
