Qualifications and titles
Technical University of Moldova has the following structure of the process of education:
- secondary specialized education – organised in the Technical College;
- university education – organised at 9 faculties;
- post-graduate education – achieved through master, doctoral and postdoctoral studies.
Each of these forms of education has certain finalities, according to which qualifications and titles are conferred, and are given diplomas.
Secondary specialized education ends with a graduation examination and defense of a diploma project. Graduates receive diplomas of secondary specialized education with the qualification of “Technician” in the studied speciality.
University Education concludes with a License examination that consists of two exams in theory and an exam on License project (thesis). Graduates are awarded university degree of BA (engineer, engineer-manager) in the studied profile and speciality, and are given License diplomas.
Postgraduate education (Master Degree Studies) –the graduates are conferred the Master Degree (MA) in the studied profile and speciality, and are given diplomas.
Doctoral studies as a form of postgraduate education ends with the defense of a thesis of advanced scientific research into a particular subject and graduates are conferred the scientific title of PhD, doctor in a scientific field, and are given diplomas.
Post-doctorate studies as the highest university degree, often Honorary, finalizes with a defense of the second thesis of advanced scientific research into a particular subject, and graduates are awarded the second scientific title of PhD, and are given diplomas.
