zThe Technical University of Moldova continues to strengthen its work in applied research and technology transfer. On 20 May 2026, UTM took part in the international “IMPAC3T-IP Academy Training”, held in Bucharest, Romania.
The training focused on intellectual property, licensing and the use of research results. These topics are highly relevant for universities that generate research and develop solutions for the economy. During the session, participants were introduced to a platform that brings together digital tools and artificial intelligence-based solutions.
The platform helps researchers understand the potential value of an idea and see how it can be protected and put into practice. Research can become a technology, a product, a service or a solution for companies.
For UTM, participation in this training is directly connected to its research activity. The university develops projects, scientific papers and technical solutions, and these results can hold value for companies, institutions and the wider community. Iulia Iațco, PhD in Biological Sciences, from the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology of UTM, attended the training and said:
„As a researcher and international cooperation manager, the user certification gives me practical tools that I can apply in my research work.
It enables me to:
- apply the tools directly in research projects, including the project Living Soil, Living Forests;
- assess the institute’s intellectual property assets;
- start the first licensing discussions with industrial partners.”
University research gains impact when it is applied. An idea tested in the laboratory can respond to a real need. Through licensing, it can reach the economy in a clear and structured way.
Through participation in international training programmes, the Technical University of Moldova is creating a clearer path from research to application. Research developed within the university, including by students, can be protected, continued through partnerships and transformed into solutions that reach the economy, where they can produce real impact.
