International collaboration is a key priority for maintaining competitive standards in higher education. In this context, the Technical University of Moldova continues to promote academic excellence and innovation, this time through a visit by a group of 12 academic staff members from the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics (FCIM) and the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications (FET) to the Nicolae Bălcescu Land Forces Academy in Sibiu.
The visit was organized as part of the project “Curriculum Modernization for Professional Competence Development in Information Security, Information Management, and Data Science, to Enhance the Competitiveness and Data Security of SMEs/DATASEA.”
Under the guidance of the deans of the two faculties involved – Associate Professor Dr. Dumitru CIORBĂ (FCIM) and Associate Professor Dr. Lilia SAVA (FET), UTM professors had the opportunity to explore the modern infrastructure and innovative teaching methods implemented at the prestigious Sibiu institution, participating in a series of academic and exploratory activities:
- Campus Tour: Guided by Colonel Barbu RĂZVAN, the group explored the Academy’s library and laboratories, modern facilities that support academic excellence and cutting-edge research.
- Presentation of the Department of Communications, Information Technology, and Cyber Defense: Under the coordination of Professor Dr. Eng. Simona MICLĂUȘ, the department provided an in-depth perspective on its contribution to developing technical and informational competencies, in line with the Bologna Process. The discussion highlighted the importance of adapting the curriculum to new technologies and labor market demands.
- Presentation of the Department of Technical Sciences: Associate Professor Dr. Romana OANCEA presented the research and teaching activities of the department, emphasizing the innovative methods used in technical education. UTM professors had the chance to analyze the integration of advanced technologies into teaching practices.
These activities provided a valuable opportunity for experience exchange and the sharing of best practices between the two academic institutions, helping to strengthen international partnerships.
The visit played a significant role in developing students’ competencies in information technologies and cybersecurity. This experience exchange supports the implementation of the DATASEA project objectives, positively impacting the quality of education and research at UTM.
Through this visit, UTM’s commitment to academic excellence and the development of internationally competitive study programs was clearly highlighted. The coordination by Deans Dumitru CIORBĂ and Lilia SAVA maximized the opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration.
UTM aims to continue these initiatives, addressing current educational challenges and ensuring that students are trained to the highest standards.
