The Technical University of Moldova and the Kharkiv Aviation Institute (Харківський авіаційний інститут – XAI) are embarking on a new chapter of academic cooperation. The recent visit of Mikail Garayev, Vice-Rector for Innovation and International Relations at XAI, has laid the foundation for a strategic partnership that promises to revolutionize the academic and research landscape in the region.
During the meeting between UTM Rector, Prof. Viorel Bostan, and XAI Vice-Rector Dr. Mikail Garayev, both leaders emphasized a shared vision: transforming academic potential into tangible innovation. The two institutions showcased a strong commitment to international collaboration, with this meeting serving as a pivotal first step towards strengthening relations, particularly in various research fields. Nina Putuntean, UTM’s Head of International Relations, also attended the meeting, highlighting the importance of bolstering international academic relations to enhance the university’s educational and research performance.

The visit to UTM provided an overview of the university’s modern infrastructure and research capabilities. Vice-Rector Garayev was notably impressed by the innovation-oriented facilities, such as Tekwill, Fablab, Microlab, and UTM’s Outdoor Technical Museum Park. These creative spaces represent ideal ground for cultivating joint projects, especially in cutting-edge technology sectors.

Mikail Garayev expressed a keen interest in collaborating with the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, and the Faculty of Energetics and Electrical Engineering. One area of particular mutual interest is drone technology research, a leading sector in which UTM and XAI aim to innovate.
This initial step towards a close collaboration between UTM and the Kharkiv Aviation Institute opens new opportunities for both students and faculty. The partnership is expected to lead to joint research projects and collaborations across various educational programs, strengthening international relations and advancing knowledge in areas of shared interest.
