“PURINA Conference. Knowledge for the Future. With Love for Pets” – a Landmark Event for Veterinary Professionals

The Technical University of Moldova, through the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in collaboration with PURINA Moldova, the College of Veterinary Doctors, and the Ciavdar Group Veterinary Clinic, organized on April 16 the Scientific Conference titled “PURINA. Knowledge for the Future. With Love for Pets.”

The event, dedicated to veterinary professionals, researchers, and students, brought together both national and international speakers: Mihail Moroz, university lecturer and dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Nicolai Ciavdar, director of the Ciavdar Veterinary Clinic; and Pavlo Filonenko, strategic planning manager at PURINA PetCare.

In his opening remarks, Dean Mihail Moroz encouraged active engagement from the academic community in promoting applied knowledge and interdisciplinary collaboration, emphasizing the vital role of strategic partnerships in training the next generation of veterinary specialists.

“This conference reflects our commitment to science, education, and genuine care for companion animals—values we share with our partners. It also provides a valuable platform for dialogue between specialists, faculty, and students, fostering the exchange of knowledge and best practices in support of a modern veterinary medicine based on responsibility, innovation, and respect for life.”

The conference addressed the latest research and practices in veterinary medicine, with a special focus on companion animal health. Key topics included: exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, viral diseases with enteric tropism in dogs and cats—updates in diagnostics and treatment, skin tumors in dogs and cats—diagnosis and treatment, neurological disorders common in Moldova that can lead to misdiagnosis, and osteoarthritis therapy in dogs and cats.

The conference was productive, full of valuable insights and meaningful exchanges of experience. Participants had the opportunity to share knowledge and collaborate in efforts to improve animal health.

Within this context, UTM remains a cornerstone in the education of veterinary specialists in the Republic of Moldova, committed to delivering high-quality education and advanced research, playing a vital role in the continuous development of the field by shaping responsible and competitive professionals.
