UTM Inspires Future Students in Bălți and Căușeni

This week, Bălți and Căușeni became focal points for university outreach. The caravan of the national “Study in Moldova” campaign, supported by the Ministry of Education and Research, moved closer to students, bringing with it real opportunities for the future. Following last week’s events in Edineț and Cahul, the Technical University of Moldova continued its effort to guide young people toward building their careers at home, with around 1,300 students expected to attend.

At its core, the initiative aims to help students understand what suits them best. Through direct conversations with UTM professors and students, participants gained a practical sense of what each field of study involves. They explored the offer of all 11 faculties, tested modern technologies, asked questions and began to picture what their professional path could look like.

To reach as many students as possible, UTM faculties were present simultaneously in both locations:

  • In Bălți: FET, FEIE, FCIM, FTA, FD and FMV.
  • In Căușeni: FIMIT, FCIM, FTA and FD.

Students had the chance to test technologies and engage with professionals across several fields:

  • Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (FEIE & FET): FEIE representatives spoke about the role of the energy sector, while the FET team captured attention with demonstrations involving LED circuits, a robotic arm, tank-type robots and high-performance microscopes.
  • Information Technology and Microelectronics (FCIM): faculty representatives showcased automotive systems and oscilloscopes, along with a live demonstration of a drone based on Ardupilot, highlighting the practical applications of modern technologies.
  • Mechanical, Industrial and Transport Engineering (FIMIT): guided by professors and students, visitors explored engineering models such as precessional mechanical transmissions, aerodynamic models for wind turbines, a demonstration differential mechanism and a mini wind turbine, offering a clear view of how theory translates into real-world solutions.
  • Food Technology (FTA): through interactive workshops, students analyzed the chemical composition of products in the activity “Is life sweeter with sugar?” and explored the basics of healthy living through a “nutrition puzzle.”
  • Design and Veterinary Medicine (FD & FMV): the Faculty of Design brought creativity to the forefront with projects from the creative industries, while the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine introduced students to the responsibilities and relevance of the field.

Through its energy, interactivity and hands-on approach, UTM turned these events into meaningful career guidance experiences. It was more than an education fair; it was a space where students could explore, test and better understand what they might choose to study.

Participation in the “Study in Moldova” campaign once again reflects the commitment of UTM and the Ministry of Education and Research to supporting the development of competitive specialists and offering young people not just information, but also the motivation to build their future at home, in the Republic of Moldova.
