Anastasia DANU: Writing Her Future in Lines of Code, on the Most Coveted Platform – the Technical University of Moldova

With four perfect scores of 10 on her Baccalaureate exams, first place at the National Technical Olympiad (Informatics section) organized by UTM, and an impressive academic track record, Anastasia DANU is living proof that self-discipline, perseverance, and a clear vision for the future shape a path to success. A graduate of the Center of Excellence in IT and Information Technologies (CEITI) in Chișinău, class of 2025, Anastasia has confidently chosen her next step: the English-taught Software Engineering program within the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics at the Technical University of Moldova. Her high aspirations and personal discipline are evident at every stage of her journey. UTM is proud to welcome Anastasia among its incoming students and looks forward to seeing her thrive in the field of advanced technologies.

For Anastasia, perfect grades are simply the result of passion-fueled discipline and consistency. Beyond academic excellence lies a curious mind, one trained in programming and fascinated by discovery. Her love for travel has taken her to 22 countries—a reflection of her desire to understand different perspectives, people, and cultures. “I’m naturally curious – I always want to learn something new,” she shares.

Her decision to pursue studies at a college rather than a high school was made as early as the 8th grade. Choosing a computer science program helped her define her career path, and her passion for numbers—confirmed by her participation in top-level competitions like the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI)—only strengthened her belief that she was on the right track: “Since 8th grade, I dreamed of studying computer science, and programming has always been my strong suit.” That passion for algorithms and intellectual curiosity, nurtured since middle school, became the foundation of her academic choices.

Although she had the opportunity to study abroad, Anastasia chose to continue her education at UTM: staying home, but with international standards. It was a decision driven not by convenience, but by conviction—UTM offered exactly what she was looking for: a competitive, English-language program that aligns with her goals, with the added benefit of being close to family. “My conclusion is simple: the results you can achieve here are no less valuable than those abroad. UTM students go on to work in great companies, both at home and internationally, and that’s what really matters,” Anastasia says confidently, expressing her full trust in the quality of education at UTM.

Another defining moment in her affirmation as a future computer scientist was winning first place in the Informatics section of the National Technical Olympiad, organized by UTM between March 28–31, 2025. There, Anastasia stood out among 144 students passionate about information technology and programming, coming from across the country. Demonstrating exceptional skills and technical creativity, she earned first place, which secured her a tuition-free spot in her chosen study program, outside the regular admission process. In fact, Anastasia earned her admission to UTM twice over—both through her four perfect scores on the Baccalaureate exams and by winning first place at the Olympiad—two outstanding achievements that opened the doors to her dream university and guaranteed her a place in her desired faculty and specialization without competing for admission.

She confidently chose one of the most sought-after programs—Software Engineering in English, part of UTM’s Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics—attracted by the quality of education, the vibrant student community, and the opportunity to learn at international standards alongside professionals.

Beyond her academic experiences, a key influence in her choice of specialization was Lina SCRIPCA, a mentor at the GirlsGoIT camp and a UTM master’s student in the same program. Lina’s academic and professional journey served as a source of inspiration for Anastasia, as did her father’s example—he is an alumnus of UTM’s Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. These strong mentorship and support models reinforced Anastasia’s decision to pursue her studies at UTM.

The words she uses to define her academic path—“Development, Creativity, Knowledge”—capture the essence of the UTM spirit. Anastasia envisions her student life as dynamic and challenging, with “a lot to learn, a lot of math, plenty of teamwork, and active involvement in tech events.” She’s passionate about hackathons and not only wants to participate in many of them but also to help organize them—to enrich her experience, discover new things, and encourage other students to get involved. Her vision clearly shows the kind of future she’s determined to build.

With such dedication, curiosity, and clarity of purpose, Anastasia DANU is one of those young people for whom excellence is not just a goal but a way of life. She is an inspiring model for anyone who chooses to pursue their dreams through hard work, passion, and perseverance. The Technical University of Moldova is honored to welcome her—not only as a student but also as a future professional who will carry UTM’s reputation forward into the world.
