In a global context where the digital transformation of education and research has become a strategic priority for universities, the Technical University of Moldova was honored to welcome distinguished guests from the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (UNSTPB): Mr. Gheorghe Dinu, Director of the Department of Digitalization and Human Resources, and Mr. Răzvan Rughiniș, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers.
The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation between the two institutions, as well as collaboration with the Romanian Agency for the Administration of the National Research and Education Network (AARNIEC), which manages the RoEduNet network and is directed by Mr. Gheorghe Dinu. RoEduNet provides data communication services for academic and research institutions at all levels across Romania.

At the European level, the agency is a member of the GÉANT consortium—the network that interconnects all national research and education networks of EU member states. Its objectives are:
– to serve as an information communication infrastructure based on cutting-edge technologies, providing services for research and education;
– and to carry out its own scientific research activities for the implementation of new communication services and technologies.
At the national level, the agency ensures data connectivity through the RoEduNet network for universities, schools, and high schools, as well as research institutions, university hospitals, libraries, museums, and cultural institutions across Romania.

Representing UTM were Rector Viorel Bostan, Vice-Rector for Digitalization Dinu Țurcanu, and Ludmila Peca, Director of the National Institute for Cybersecurity Innovations “CYBERCOR.” Rector Bostan highlighted the exceptional collaboration between POLITEHNICA Bucharest and UTM in technical higher education, the expansion of their dual-degree partnership, scientific research, and other areas related to engineering education and aligning graduates with labor market demands. He noted, “We currently enjoy excellent cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania and highly appreciate the openness and personal involvement from Bucharest, particularly from Rector Mihnea Costoiu, in deepening and strengthening this relationship.”
Vice-Rector Țurcanu discussed upcoming initiatives with the “CYBERCOR” Institute, UTM’s involvement in the AI Cluster established at UNSTPB, where UTM is a partner, and proposals for collaboration with the RoEduNet network.

The Romanian guests acknowledged the potential for collaboration with UTM in developing joint projects in academia, research, and digitalization. This meeting between the Technical University of Moldova and POLITEHNICA Bucharest reflects a genuine openness to cooperation and innovation.
