MOLDTELECOM applauds the UTM team involved in the launch of the first satellite of the Republic of Moldova – TUMnanoSAT

In celebration of the excellent performance of the UTM team and the launch of the first satellite of the Republic of Moldova into orbit on August 12, the general director of MOLDTELECOM, Alexandru CIUBUC, together with the director of Human Resources, Inna KIRIAKOVA, congratulated and expressed their appreciation to the 7 people involved in the design, construction and development of TUMnanoSAT.

The activity was carried out within an international program. The Technical University of Moldova was selected by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) for the KiboCUBE Program, in order to launch the “TUMnanoSAT” nanosatellite from the International Space Station into orbit for free.
Between June and August 2021, the TUMnanoSAT satellite, built by the Technical University of Moldova, passed all functional tests at the Institute of Space Sciences in Romania, according to JAXA and NASA rigors. Later, in March, it was transported to Japan, at JAXA, where it was included in the JSSOD launch capsule. In April, it was transported to NASA and included in Cargo Dragon-2. On July 15, 2022, the satellite was launched into space, being transported to the International Space Station with the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
