Dr. Ceslav CIOBANU, professor and coordinator of Economics programs at Virginia State University, USA, paid another visit to the Technical University of Moldova, as part of the international Fulbright program.
On December 10, 2022, Mr. Ciobanu met with Prof., Dr. habil. Viorel BOSTAN, rector of UTM, and Prof., Dr. habil. Larisa BUGAIAN, head of the ERASMUS+ Institutional Center. The meeting focused on discussing the main achievements, priorities and challenges of the partnerships between Virginia State University and Technical University of Moldova. So far, the most important milestones are: the General Academic Cooperation Agreement (December 6, 2021); visit of university UTM rector, Prof., Dr. habil. Viorel BOSTAN, at VSU (May, 2019) and the visit of the VSU delegation, led by the dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, Dr. D. HAILE, at UTM (June, 2022). The attendees concluded that, at this point in time, it is important to focus on supporting the achievements of the partnership and cooperate in areas of common interest through the organization of projects.
Another meeting took place on December 13, 2022, during which Mr. Dinu ȚURCANU, vice-rector for Digitalization, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Dumitru CIORBĂ, dean of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Rafael CILOCI, dean of the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Sergiu POPA, dean of the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry and Environmental Sciences, and Assoc. Prof., Dr. Rodion CIUPERCĂ, head of the Continuing Education Department addressed several particularly important areas of cooperation: Autopilot Vehicles and Drones, their use in agriculture, Cybersecurity, Business and Data Analytics, exchange of programs in the field of Economics, cooperation in updating university curricula.
The potential collaboration in the implementation of the joint projects between VSU and UTM was further analyzed during a meeting with Doina NISTOR, USAID coordinator of Projects in the Republic of Moldova, and Sergiu BOTEZATU, UNDP representative.
An important event was the launch of Prof. Ceslav Ciobanu’s book – “Economics, Society, Technology, and You”, written and edited in English, then translated into Romanian and edited by the Cartea Românească Educațional Publishing House. The meeting was attended by students from UTM and professors from UTM, ASEM, USM and ULIM.
Prof. Ceslav Ciobanu’s visit finished with a review meeting with the UTM rector, Prof., Dr. habil. Viorel BOSTAN, and the head of the ERASMUS+ Institutional Center, Prof., Dr. habil. Larisa BUGAIAN, during which the parties summed up the results of the activities carried out within the partnership and discussed further activities related to the cooperation between Virginia State University and the Technical University of Moldova.
