The Technical University of Moldova hosted the 15th edition of the International Conference on Electromechanical and Energy Systems – SIELMEN 2025, between October 16–17, 2025, a highly respected scientific event included in the international conference circuit supported by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The event was traditionally organized by the faculties specializing in electrical and energy engineering from the Technical University of Moldova, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, and the University of Craiova. This year’s edition brought together specialists, professors, and researchers from several countries and benefited from partnerships with:
– IEEE Romania Section,
– Alumni Society of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Iași (SETIS),
– Association of Electronics Industry Companies in the Republic of Moldova (ACEM).
The opening session was moderated by Dumitru Braga, Dean of the Faculty of Energetics and Electrical Engineering (FEIE), who emphasized the importance of international academic collaboration in shaping the engineers of tomorrow.
On behalf of the university leadership, the Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations, Daniela Pojar, delivered the message of UTM Rector Viorel Bostan, highlighting the commitment of the Technical University of Moldova to support and advance research in the fields of electrical engineering and energy—strategic sectors for a sustainable economy and the green transition.
During the conference, participants discussed current topics such as:
– electromechanical energy conversion,
– energy efficiency and renewable sources,
– electromobility and eco-design,
– power electronics and electric drives,
– robotics, mechatronics, industrial automation,
– engineering education and the decarbonization of industrial processes.
The papers presented during the conference will be published and indexed in the prestigious IEEE Xplore Digital Library and SCOPUS databases, offering international visibility to researchers and the scientific results showcased at UTM.
SIELMEN 2025 provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, scientific findings, and joint projects between researchers and universities from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and other participating countries, further strengthening UTM’s role as a regional hub of innovation and technical excellence.
