FCGC-UTM and FII-UTCB expand their spectrum of collaboration

On 19.10.2021, the dean of the Faculty of Constructions, Geodesy and Cadastre of the Technical University of Moldova, assoc. prof., Dr. Livia NISTOR-LOPATENCO, together with her colleagues, assoc. prof., Dr. Svetlana HARITONOV, head of the study program “Fire Safety and Civil Protection Engineering” and Vitali MUTAF, assistant lecturer within the respective study program, had the special opportunity to have an online discussion with univ. prof., Dr. Eng. Sorin BURCHIU, dean of the Faculty of Building Services Engineering within the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest Bucharest (UTCB) in Romania.

The main topic of the meeting referred to the development of the cooperation relations between the two universities in the field of Fire Safety and Civil Protection Engineering, both Bachelor and Master study programs. “It is an extremely necessary field, demanded all over the world. In Romania, a similar program was initiated at UTCB, in 2015, following the tragic fire at the Colectiv club, which took place on a Friday night, on October 30, 2015, resulting in 64 deaths”, mentioned univ. prof., Dr. Eng. Sorin BURCHIU, dean of the Faculty of Building Services Engineering within UTCB.

Domain 0732.5 Fire Safety and Civil Protection Engineering is a multidisciplinary program, the object of study of which is the analysis and identification of hazards, protection of humans, nature, and the objectives of the national economy from the influence of anthropogenic and natural hazards, liquidation of hazards, control and forecast of anthropogenic activity on the living environment, development of human protection methods, of economic and environmental objectives, ensuring the stable development and security of economic objectives, organizing and ensuring the security of technological processes and jobs, while taking into account the requirements of labor protection and security against fires.

The development of cooperation relations will aid the signing and/or preparation of future Double Degree agreements between the two universities, and the exchange of experience and opinions between professors and students will complement the Erasmus+ KA1 International Agreement, UTM-UTCB Academic Mobility, Republic of Moldova – Romania. The two universities have beautiful traditions in the field of national and international cooperation, the collaboration between related faculties being based on results and experiences in the field of Construction and Civil Engineering; Geodesy and Cadastre, of over three decades.

Starting 19.10.2021, the Faculty of Constructions, Geodesy and Cadastre from the Technical University of Moldova and the Faculty of Building Services Engineering from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, Romania, consolidate their capacities and expand their spectrum of cooperation.
