UTM Recognises Young Talent in Technology and Engineering

On 23 June 2026, the Technical University of Moldova presented diplomas to the winners of the “Young Creator 2026” Competition and the 2026 Republican Technical Olympiad.

The “Young Creator 2026” Competition is organised by UTM’s Career Counselling and Guidance Centre. This year’s edition brought together 197 entries, evaluated across several fields and categories. Participants presented projects in automation and computer science, electronics, web applications, drawing and graphics, art and multimedia design, and fashion design.

The 2026 Republican Technical Olympiad brought together 164 participants, twice as many as in the previous edition. The competition included tasks in fields that form the foundation of engineering studies.

“We give school students the opportunity to take part in a competition and show what they can do. Through these competitions, they become more familiar with the university and with the field they want to pursue.”

For many participants, the competitions were more than a test. They also helped students clarify the career path they want to pursue. Winners of the two competitions spoke about their experience and their study plans:

  • Baltenco Alexandrina, awarded in Artistic Design, Sculpture and Modelling, and Computer Graphics:
“This competition gave me the opportunity to take my first step towards UTM. I see my future connected to graphic design, IT and technology.”
  • Mocanu Carolina, first place in Sculpture and Modelling:
“Thanks to this competition, I decided to study in Moldova. I want to apply to the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning.”
  • Gînga Toma, first place in Mathematics at the 2026 Republican Technical Olympiad:
“Mathematics helps me in the career I want to pursue. I want to study Software Engineering at UTM, where I see opportunities for development.”
  • Ghelas Laurențiu, first place in Chemistry at the 2026 Republican Technical Olympiad:
“I want to build a career in food technology. Food production is a key sector for the country’s economy.”

Participants can also use their results in the admission process. In the “Young Creator” Competition, first-place winners may be admitted to a state-funded place in the specialisation related to the field in which they were awarded. Second- and third-place winners may enrol in a study programme in the relevant field and receive a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the first year.

Through these competitions, UTM gives school students the opportunity to become more familiar with the university environment. They test their knowledge, present their ideas and gain a clearer understanding of the field they want to pursue. In this way, the university builds a closer connection with young people interested in technology, creativity, engineering and applied research.

We congratulate all participants and winners of the 2026 edition for their work and achievements.
