Part-Time Studies

Flexibility for you

At UTM, part-time (reduced attendance) studies are organized only for certain programs. These programs follow a separate curriculum, equivalent to that of full-time studies (except for the Physical Education course), with the workload distributed over a period one year longer. For all activities in the curriculum (lectures, seminars, practical work, laboratory work, internships, etc.), the number of direct contact hours is adapted to the current legislation and is determined based on the number of calendar days in a year during which a student combining professional work with studies may be absent from the workplace.

Teaching activities are organized in two types of sessions:

  1. Reference sessions, during which direct-contact teaching activities are conducted, lasting approximately 10 days.

  2. Examination sessions, during which competencies acquired in the study subjects are assessed, lasting approximately 5 days.

The exact duration and schedule of study and examination sessions are established in the University Calendar.

Admission to part-time studies is organized only for specialties for which this study format is provided and for which full-time education is offered at UTM.

The standard duration of bachelor’s studies in part-time format is 4 years for programs of 180 credits and 5 years for programs of 240 credits.
