From Idea to Impact: Inspiration and Innovation in the Creative Entrepreneurs Competition at UTM

“The entrepreneur sees opportunities where others see obstacles.” Inspired by this maxim of the renowned entrepreneurship expert Michael Gerber, the UTM Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning organized, on December 5, 2024, an exceptional event: “From Idea to Impact: The Competition of Creative Entrepreneurs” – a visionary initiative that offered students a unique opportunity to turn bold ideas into sustainable business projects, showcasing creativity, originality, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Coordinated by Associate Professor, Dr. Neli MUNTEAN, the event aimed to stimulate innovative thinking, cultivate courage in the face of risks, and simulate the real challenges of the business world. The interim dean of the faculty, Associate Professor, Dr. Eugeniu BRAGUȚA, delivered an inspirational message to the participants: “This competition once again proves the extraordinary potential of our students. You are the future creators of a more sustainable, innovative, and better-connected Chișinău. Your work and determination inspire us all!”

In an atmosphere brimming with enthusiasm and creativity, the participants revealed their ingenuity and determination. They presented original ideas and well-structured business plans, delivering engaging presentations that left a strong impression on the jury with their clarity and vision. The competition also offered an authentic experience of the entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the importance of strategic thinking and the courage to transform ideas into reality. Through their outstanding efforts, the participants proved that vision and perseverance are the true ingredients for success.

The competition was a true bridge between theory and practice, offering participants the chance to showcase their skills. After a rigorous evaluation, the jury named the winners of the competition:

1st Place: QUINTAFORMA team
Project: “GreenHub – Intelligent Green Roofs”
Description: Transforming buildings in Chișinău into multifunctional urban spaces with significant ecological impact.

2nd Place: FARMBOX team
Project: “Connecting Local Farmers and Urban Consumers”
Description: An innovative solution that facilitates access to fresh products, promoting local agriculture and healthy eating.

3rd Place: BUILD SYNC SOLUTIONS team
Project: “Efficient Synchronization Technologies in Construction”
Description: Optimizing processes in the construction industry to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

The projects were evaluated by a jury of renowned professionals:

  • Diana JOSAN – Head of Sales Strategy and Support, Orange Moldova
  • Victoria BODRUG – Retail Regional Manager, Orange Moldova
  • Elena PANAINTE – FCCA, CPA, Managing Partner Crowe Audit FPA
  • Diana TOPOROVA – HR Director, ICS Huawei Technologies SRL
  • Anatol MÎRZA – Chief Architect, GOR ARCHITECTURE SRL, Lecturer at UTM

Their expertise added value to the competition, inspiring students to aspire to high standards.

The competition went beyond the limits of a simple contest, also serving as a lesson in courage, vision, and collaboration. The students demonstrated that they could offer valuable solutions for the future, regardless of their specialization. Such initiatives represent a fundamental pillar in shaping tomorrow’s leaders, contributing to their personal and academic development.

The “From Idea to Impact” event showed that at the Technical University of Moldova, young people are encouraged to turn their dreams into reality.
