During a public meeting, Emilia Gogu, Head of the Research Office at the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS) and a faculty member at the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics, and Economic Informatics at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, presented this tool for the first time at the Technical University of Moldova.
The meeting focused on UTM’s interest in modernizing its curriculum to develop professional skills in Engineering, Electronics, Automation, and Robotics in line with the demands of Industry 4.0 – GEAR 4.0. Additionally, the discussion highlighted the development of a Balance Scorecard evaluation tool designed to assess the institution’s capacity to offer higher education programs and continuous professional training that meet labor market demands and address environmental vulnerabilities.

Given that UTM is currently implementing the subproject “Modernizing the Curriculum to Develop Professional Skills in Engineering, Electronics, Automation, and Robotics in Response to Industry 4.0 – GEAR 4.0,” which includes the development and implementation of the Balance Scorecard evaluation tool, the meeting included deans, vice-deans, and department heads from UTM. The dialogue centered on the necessity to develop said institutional capacity evaluation tool.
Vice-Rector Daniela Pojar stated that following the modernization of the university curriculum and the upgrading of teaching and research infrastructure, staff involved will adopt the concept of research-based learning. The university staff trained under the GEAR 4.0 subproject will be able to implement the WBT methodology – Work-Based Learning, an educational strategy that provides students with real-world work experiences where they can apply academic and technical skills and develop employability. Additionally, the revision of the university curriculum will contribute to synergy with the labor market and address the skills mismatch highlighted in the Study on the Training Needs of Engineers in Design and Manufacturing.

In concluding the meeting, Mrs. Emilia Gogu added:
“I am fully confident that UTM will succeed in implementing this ambitious project. Our support will continue throughout this process, ensuring that the needs of the modern industry are fully integrated into university curricula. Together, we can create quality education that meets future demands.”
Thus, UTM strengthens its commitment to modernizing education and preparing students for the challenges and opportunities presented by Industry 4.0.
