Last week, the Faculty of Constructions, Geodesy and Cadastre of the Technical University of Moldova was visited by the president of the Union of Romanian Geodesists (UGR), Ionuț SAVOIU, county councilor, PSD vice president in Dâmbovița, former deputy and former public administrator of Dâmbovița county.
The central discussion of the meeting of Friday, March 12, 2021, with the FCGC Dean, Dr. Eng. Livia NISTOR-LOPATENCO, focused on the potential UTM-UGR partnership agreement, involving the return of the practice of conducting internships for UTM students in the universities of Romania.
The Union of Geodesists in Romania (https://www.facebook.com/ugr.ro) supports the Romanian geodetic education through the involvement of Bachelor, Masters and PhD students in various national and international events. Additionally, UGR supports Romanian universities in the field of Geodesy and Cadastre through organizing traditional annual symposia and conferences, a suitable example being the support offered by Ionuț SAVOIU in the organisation of the scientific symposium ConsGeoCad 2021, scheduled for 30/09/2021-02/10/2021 at FCGC-UTM.
Consistent with the objectives of UGR, the geodesist Ionuț Savoiu proposed the consolidation of the ideas of non-governmental organizations in the field of Geodesy and Cadastre in the Republic of Moldova, in order to achieve the following goals:
- increasing the prestige of geodesy and the professional authority of those working in this field;
- supporting and defending the professional and economic interests of its members;
- raising the awareness of decision-making bodies and public opinion towards the specificities and economic-social importance of geodetic activities;
- promoting technical progress and modern technologies, encouraging scientific research in the field of geodesy at an early stage during the first year of university, and later as a graduate and specialist;
- initiating, proposing and approving legislative and normative acts in connection with the organization and development of geodetic activities;
- dissemination of the results of the professional practice and studies of those interested in continuing education centers within universities (in this case at TUM, in the already existing center at FCGC);
- creation of the organizational framework Romania – Republic of Moldova (such as, through the MOODLE platform) for better acquaintance between specialists and the activity they carry out in the field of Geodesy, Cadastre, Topography, Photogrammetry, Geoinformation Systems, Remote Sensing, etc.
Ionuț SAVOIU recognized the academic and scientific potential of FCGC-UTM, as well as the recent improvements, including the interior and exterior of the faculty buildings, modernization of study rooms, and provision of IT equipment in classrooms. The president of UGR encourages the participation of students and teachers in multiple national and international projects, including the future study candidates.
