A First for the Republic of Moldova: UTM Student Awarded the Only Excellence Scholarship from the French Government

The Technical University of Moldova celebrates an unprecedented achievement: Iuliana Stețenco, a fourth-year student in the “Software Engineering” program at the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, has been selected as the sole recipient from the Republic of Moldova of the French Government’s Excellence Scholarship for Master’s studies in 2025.

This scholarship, awarded annually by the French Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, is one of the most prestigious and competitive international academic opportunities. It is intended for students with outstanding academic performance who wish to pursue master’s studies in France.

The selection process was rigorous, evaluating academic background, motivation, the coherence of the candidate’s professional project, and their proficiency in French. In this context, Iuliana earned the DALF C1 diploma issued by the French Alliance in Moldova, giving her a significant advantage during the evaluation process.

The scholarship covers a wide range of expenses related to studying in France: a monthly allowance of 860 euros for 10 months, exemption from enrollment fees, coverage of social insurance, support for accommodation in university dorms, administrative exemptions (visa, CVEC), and domestic transportation from the airport to the study city. Starting this fall, Iuliana Stețenco will continue her academic journey at the University of Côte d’Azur in France, within the master’s program in “Cognitive Ergonomics of Digital Technologies.”

“I am extremely grateful for this unique opportunity. Receiving this scholarship is a recognition of the work I’ve put into my studies at UTM. I am confident that the experience I will gain in France will allow me to acquire valuable knowledge and, in turn, contribute to the development of the IT sector in the Republic of Moldova,” said Iuliana Stețenco.

This remarkable success reflects not only the student’s personal excellence but also the high academic standards upheld by UTM, along with the university’s commitment to internationalization and academic mobility.

The entire academic community at UTM congratulates Iuliana on this outstanding accomplishment, which proves that young people from the Republic of Moldova, with a strong academic foundation and consistent institutional support, can reach the highest levels of international education.
