The University of Craiova successfully hosted the 34th edition of AGRONOMIADE, a prestigious student competition that brings together talented students of agriculture from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Held from May 23-26, this year’s event gathered approximately 400 students and faculty members from both countries, including UTM and the five agronomic education centers in Romania – Bucharest, Cluj, Craiova, Iași, and Timișoara – marking another milestone in the competition’s history.
In this edition, the delegation from the Technical University of Moldova succeeded in reaffirming the excellence of agricultural education in the Republic of Moldova. Daniela POJAR, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs and International Relations at UTM, emphasized the importance of this competition as a symbol of academic achievement and solidarity among students from the Romanian-speaking region.
Students from UTM, spanning across faculties including Agricultural Sciences and Environmental Management, Veterinary Medicine, Food Technology, and Construction, Geodesy, and Cadastre, tackled challenges in a variety of disciplines, from crop science and soil science to agronomy and geodetic engineering. Their participation demonstrated solid knowledge and teamwork spirit throughout the event.
Beyond the competitive aspect, AGRONOMIADE-2024 provided an ideal platform for exchanging experiences, building friendships, and initiating new collaborations among participating students and faculty. The event maintained a spirit of fair play and sportsmanship throughout, contributing to a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
The UTM delegation was congratulated for their efforts and success, while the organizers from the Faculty of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Craiova received appreciation for their hospitality and impeccable organization of the competition.
A highlight of the closing ceremony was an significant announcement: the upcoming 35th edition will, for the first time, take place in Chișinău, hosted by the Technical University of Moldova. This news was met with joy and viewed as both an honor and additional motivation for UTM, as it prepares to host the event to the highest standards.
AGRONOMIADE once again showcased the enduring tradition and the passion for agriculture among the younger generation, underscoring excellence and academic collaboration in the field. It upholds fundamental values like competitiveness and friendship among youth from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
