The electronic industry presents remarkable career opportunities for young people and promising business prospects, boasting impressive figures both globally and within the Republic of Moldova. On May 21 and 22, 2024, Chisinau will host a series of events dedicated to the electronic industry—one of the country’s most promising industrial sectors, comprising over 210 companies and six specialized educational institutions that cater to industry standards and workforce needs.

Over the course of two days, electronic engineers, IT professionals, national and international industrial enterprises, academics, business representatives, and educational institutions will come together to promote Moldova’s electronic industry and engage in discussions on current developments. With a strong focus on innovation and technological advancement, these events are being organized by the Association of Electronic Industry Companies in Moldova (ACEM) and the Investment Agency.

Moldova Electronic Forum, 3rd Edition – May 21, 2024

The two days of technological challenges and development will kick off at Tekwill with the Moldova Electronic Forum. Starting at 9:00 AM, the event will feature an open dialogue among stakeholders from Moldova’s electronic industry and abroad, focusing on trends. Discussions will center on trends, opportunities for development and digitalization, and challenges in electronic engineering, all within the framework of European integration and geopolitical developments. The forum aims to highlight Moldova’s openness to international cooperation, strengthening its position in both local and international markets and integrating into global supply chains. Additionally, the forum will include a panel on human resources development, presenting industry best practices and a study on salaries and benefits in the electronics sector conducted by PwC.

Embedded Moldova Conference, 1st Edition – May 22, 2024

For the first time, the Embedded community will gather at the Embedded Moldova Conference—a hub where innovation meets opportunity. Key players in the field will come together to enhance skills in electronic engineering and embedded systems. The conference will showcase industrial applications of embedded systems across various sectors: automotive, medical, smart homes, IoT, industrial automation, and smart agriculture. Participants, including representatives from central authorities, academia, and the business community, will emphasize the importance of technical and engineering education and support for industry talents, aiming to unlock the industry’s potential and create career opportunities for young people.

During the Embedded Moldova Conference, attendees will engage in business-to-business (B2B) interactions. The organizing team will assist industry representatives in finding suitable partners based on specific buyer needs. This initiative is designed to bolster efforts by ACEM and the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ODA) to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) integrate into supply chains.

Engineering and Technology Career Fair, 6th Edition – May 22, 2024

Starting at 1:00 PM, the Engineering and Technology Career Fair will provide opportunities for young engineering enthusiasts. Both national and international companies will present job offers for professionals and graduates seeking employment and career development. Young people will be guided in the career identification process and will have the chance to interact directly with representatives from the electronic industry companies. The fair will feature interactive competitions, such as soldering challenges, where participants can demonstrate their skills in assembling integrated circuits. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to visit laboratories at the Technical University campus, the FabLab workshop, and the facilities of an international industrial design company.

The Embedded Hackathon will take place from May 21-22, welcoming 10 teams of students and IoT enthusiasts. Participants put their hacking skills to the test in areas such as IoT, data transmission, and processing. Each team will be provided with component kits and receive mentorship from experienced specialists. The most innovative teams will be awarded cash prizes and gifts from the organizers.

Electronics – Shaping the Future Together!

The Association of Electronic Industry Companies in Moldova, founded in May 2019, is a non-commercial organization dedicated to representing its members’ interests with national authorities, facilitating the exchange of best practices, and boosting industry competitiveness and development through strong partnerships between private companies, public authorities, and international and national organizations. ACEM comprises 30 companies, employing over 2,200 people with a turnover exceeding $100 million.

The events on May 21-22, 2024, are organized with the support of the “Strong Enterprises and Communities for Moldova” project, funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swiss Government, and implemented by GIZ Moldova.
