UTM and Cybercor are Teaming Up for New Cybersecurity Training Sessions

At the invitation of Police Colonel Vitalie Moisei and Ion Indricean from the “Stefan cel Mare” Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dinu Țurcanu, Vice-Rector for Digitalization at UTM and strategic coordinator of Cybercor, in partnership with Cisco Systems, organized a new training session in the field of cybersecurity on the platform of the newly established entity at the Technical University of Moldova—the Cybercor National Institute of Cybersecurity Innovations, created with the support of the Future Technologies Project, funded by USAID, the Government of Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The aim was to inform approximately 41 specially appointed public officials from subdivisions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova about the latest innovative technologies in information security and introduce a set of best practices in cyber hygiene.

The training session covered a range of topics, including the latest advancements in information security; best practices in cyber hygiene, and acquiring essential skills for ensuring cybersecurity in the online space. Participants delved into various techniques for assessing and identifying fraudulent emails, methods for verifying sender addresses using specialized scanning platforms, measures for preventing malicious software, understanding risks associated with online navigation, recognizing threats and social engineering tactics, and adhering to minimum requirements for securing terminal equipment, mobile devices, and online transactions.

Mr. Țurcanu expressed his gratitude to Vitalie Moisei and Ion Indricean from the “Stefan cel Mare” Police Academy of MAI for their invaluable contributions to organizing this significant and beneficial event for society. The Vice-Rector underscored the increasing importance of cybersecurity in today’s world and highlighted the crucial responsibility that public officials hold in safeguarding confidential data and IT infrastructure. Additionally, Mr. Țurcanu thanked the participants for their keen interest in the training.

The session provided participants with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, thereby strengthening the protection of information and IT systems within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The training is part of a series of planned sessions for 2024, conducted in partnership with Cybercor and Cisco Systems. The overarching aim is to equip both public and private institutions with the necessary expertise to enhance cybersecurity across the Republic of Moldova.
