From December 23-24, Tekwill became the epicenter of creativity and innovative technological solutions: XMas FAF Hackathon, organized by FAF NGO, brought together 75 tech enthusiasts and put their skills to the test. For 24 hours, the participants had to tackle the challenges at hand–generating a timetable and utilizing OCR technology for handwriting recognition.

The solutions presented by the 15 participating teams showcased not only the technical competence of the students, but also their creativity and teamwork skills. Some of the project that stood out the most were:
- Schedule Generator: An algorithm designed to efficiently generate the university timetable, facilitated by a user-friendly website for administration. Through this platform, administrators can easily add or modify information in the database, while students can access it effortlessly.
- ScheduleExpert: A web-based timetable generation system that places a strong emphasis on automation and flexibility. A key feature is the system’s ability to handle teacher substitutions, providing precise error management and uninterrupted education despite unforeseen changes.
- OCR Model: A system capable of recognizing simple handwritten text and handwritten tables in English, transforming them into digital format. This model contributes to streamlining the process of converting manually written information into an easily manageable and accessible format.

The projects were evaluated by a panel of professionals, who assessed the works based on creativity, innovation, and the practicality of the solutions:
- Viorel Bostan: Rector, Technical University of Moldova
- Dinu Țurcanu: Vice-Rector for Digitalization, UTM
- Dumitru Ciorbă: Dean, Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, UTM
- Ana Țurcanu: Vice-Dean, FCIM, UTM
- Mihail Gavrilița: Head of the Software Engineering Program, UTM
- Vladimir Poddukin: Representative, Allied Testing Moldova
XMas FAF Hackathon, a standout event in the tech domain, received generous support from leading IT companies. The main sponsor, Allied Testing—a prestigious company specializing in software quality assurance and testing—provided financial support and the first-place prize. Another primary supporter, Planet Group International, a global technology entity, played a crucial role in bringing the event to life. The Technical University of Moldova, a trusted partner, offered organizational support and ensured prizes for the second and third places.
Xmas FAF Hackathon was more than just a technological event; it was the materialization of festive spirit and collaboration within the academic community. In an age where innovation is paramount, this hackathon brought fresh perspectives, remarkable technological solutions, and ultimately, unforgettable memories. The participants and organizers eagerly anticipate future events that will continue to bring innovation and excellence within the FAF community.
