UTM and GTU, two leading technical universities from Moldova and Georgia, have concluded a collaborative partnership

The technical universities of Moldova and Georgia, UTM and GTU, have initiated an exciting collaboration, marking a significant milestone in the international landscape of education and research. In pursuit of this partnership, the Rector of the Technical University of Moldova, Prof. Viorel BOSTAN, PhD, responded to the invitation extended by the Rector of the Georgian Technical University (GTU), Academician Prof. David GURGENIDZE, PhD. Between October 30, 2023, and November 4, 2023, he conducted a study visit to Tbilisi, with the goal of establishing a lasting partnership between the two institutions.

The five-day visit provided a unique opportunity to outline the main areas of collaboration between these two leading technical universities. The two rectors centered their discussions on cooperation across various fields, with a special emphasis on education, research, and innovation. Through this partnership, the goal is to enhance the international quality of education and research in both countries, while focusing on cutting-edge technologies, digital innovations, and the development of technological startups.

The signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the technical universities of Moldova and Georgia has laid the foundation for a long-term collaboration that benefits students, professors, and researchers from both institutions. This partnership opens up various opportunities, such as student internships, exchange programs, study visits, and training sessions, and more.

The two universities are renowned as leaders in the fields of engineering and innovative technologies within their respective countries. The academic staff at both institutions actively participate in both fundamental and applied research, significantly contributing to major international projects and large-scale scientific experiments of global importance.

Rector Viorel BOSTAN highlighted the importance of this collaboration:

“It is an honor and a source of great satisfaction to confirm the signing of this influential Cooperation Agreement between the Technical University of Moldova and the Georgian Technical University. This collaboration represents a meaningful step in strengthening academic and research connections between our two countries. Our goal is to establish a solid platform for the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and experience among our students, faculty members, and researchers. We are committed to developing programs and initiatives that will inspire and contribute to technological advancements and continuous innovation. Similarly, Rector David GURGENIDZE stated:

“The signing of this Cooperation Agreement is a special moment for the Georgian Technical University. We are thrilled to strengthen our international partnerships through this fruitful collaboration with the Technical University of Moldova.
