As partnerships thrive on teamwork, UTM and Virginia State University (USA) are joining forces to achieve the goals set during the past and ongoing visits throughout October 15-21.
During this period, the delegation from Virginia State University, consisting of Dr. Leonard Githinji, President of the VSU Senate; D. Haile, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and Vice-Rector; Joseph Shelton, Assistant Professor of Computer Science; Lorin S. Sodell, Director of External Engagement and Industry in the College of Engineering and Technology at VSU, specializing in Business Development and Advanced Manufacturing Education at the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM); Ceslav Ciobanu, Economics Professor and Coordinator of Economic Programs, Ambassador (ret.) in the College of Engineering and Technology at VSU, together with UTM’s team, represented by Rector Prof. Viorel Bostan, Dr. Habil.; Dinu Țurcanu, Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences, Vice-Rector for Digitalization; Daniela Pojar, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs and International Relations; Dr. Habil. Larisa Bugaian; Dr. Dumitru Ciorbă; Dr. Rafael Ciloci; Dr. Sergiu Popa; and Dr. Rodion Ciupercă, aimed for a wide range of activities, including networking and partnership opportunities between UTM and VSU.
The schedule includes guest speakers from the VSU delegation delivering lectures on various subjects:
- “Opportunities for CET Cooperation between VSU and UTM in Education, Research, and Business”
- “Biometric Geofencing: Protection against Internal Adversaries and Threats”
- “Opportunities and Challenges for Establishing a Collaborative Engineering Research Center for Industry and Academia”
- “How AI is Transforming Markets and Reinventing the Economy: An Overview”
- “Sustainable Agricultural Practices”
The agenda also includes visits to various places, such as Tekwill, Fablab, Ziphouse, the “TUM NanoSat” National Center, the Center of Excellence in Viticulture and Oenology, a fruit agriculture production company, an IT hub, as well as meetings with representatives of the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business, the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences, and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. Additionally, the delegation will travel to Cahul and Bălți.
We can’t forget the festive events! There will be a special Senate session to award Ceslav Ciobanu the Honorary Doctorate (DHC) title, and a reception for FIEB/FUA is being planned (details to be announced). The VSU delegation’s visit to UTM will conclude with a Roundup session.
In the midst of our activities, it’s important to emphasize that accomplishing great things is a team effort. Success is not a solitary endeavor, and our dedication to establishing partnerships extends beyond mere statistics. It’s about the joy we feel with each innovation at UTM. We’re delighted to witness the tangible outcomes of all the collaborations we’ve nurtured.
