How do the students from the Department of Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering of the UTM Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics envision the notion of a clean environment and how do they contribute to its valorization?
The “Luminița 777” team, made up of students Daniel ŢÎRCHE, Octavian SCRIPNIC and Tatiana MASLOVA, under the guidance of Univ. Assist. Adrian BÎRNAZ, developed an autonomous mobile system that gathers information about the state of the environment. The project, named “A clean environment – a healthy life”, is, in fact, a robot endowed with artificial intelligence, which, with the help of sensors and images captured by the video camera, moves on its own through the predetermined area and collects data on the state of the environment: humidity, temperature, light, and air quality, while avoiding various obstacles. All this data is sent and stored on a server.
The robot can assist in monitoring the safety of the environment in a room (for example, in a greenhouse), collecting and systematizing the necessary parameters and notifying the user about the data obtained, being able to develop statistics based on the information stored on the server.
This AI-based tech creation has already been highly appreciated in the 11th edition of the Student Competition “Earth Rover: Innovation Challenge – 2022”, winning the 2nd place prize.
The team affirms that they aim to further develop the robot and add new features in support of the assigned goal: “A clean environment – a healthy life”.
