On January 13, 2023, the Technical University of Moldova became part of one of the most important networks of test centers around the world – Pearson VUE Select Test Center. Mr. Dinu ȚURCANU, vice-rector of Digitalization at UTM, was invited on the Moldova 1 TV channel to elaborate on the advantages of international certifications and their role in the development of a successful career.
During the “Live Studio” talk show with Doina STIMPOVSCHI, the UTM vice-rector announced that the Technical University of Moldova has become part of one of the most important international certification networks, this Testing Center being a first for the Republic of Moldova and the only one of its kind in our country. A Pearson VUE Select Center, by definition, indicates the application of more security measures in the identification of candidates for exams and, implicitly, in their supervision during the exams. This allows candidates not only to take IT certification exams, but also to pursue retraining, regardless of age, and demonstrate their skills in one field or another, consequently obtaining an international certificate, recognized anywhere in the world.
If we access any job search websites, we will see that the vast majority of companies (and not only in the IT field) want employees to possess additional skills other than the purely professional ones provided by their degree. Hence the conditions and the very strict requirements in the conduct of international certification exams.
It was quite complicated for UTM to obtain this status, because the largest Pearson VUE certification network does not allow for the initial acquisition of the “Select” qualification, as it is necessary to first demonstrate that all the conditions and the strict rigors of this qualification are met, and any intention of plagiarism or any other type of cheating or misdirection is definitively excluded. UTM attempted to face these rigors and succeeded in doing so. We owe this achievement to the fact that we were the first university to introduce a lot of authorized courses of leading security product manufacturers. Thus, the respective courses, such as “Computer Networks” or “Cyber Security”, allow students to obtain a zero-cost voucher and take the exam right here, within the Center at UTM. This way, upon graduating from the faculty, in addition to the university diploma, the student will already have one or more international certificates in his records. At the moment, we provide 7 courses of this kind, each allowing for the obtaining of one of these certificates.
As a result, besides the level of education indicated in the graduate diploma, the respective certificates become an additional asset in the process of getting hired or in any other competitive environment, offering better prospects for career advancement along the way. That is precisely why we promote certifications in the field of education through establishing partnerships with vendors that allow students to obtain vouchers. And we, as a University, acknowledge the importance of certifications at the national level, urging the major producers to participate in the utilization of vouchers for young people, including students from schools. It is, in our opinion, the industry’s most impactful support, to encourage the talented young people passionate about robotics, accounting, or any other vital field in our society.
The Pearson VUE Select Testing Center has been officially operating at the Technical University of Moldova since January 13, 2023, and we already have the first four candidates who want certification in the field of accounting and auditing (IT not being the only asset of UTM, as is known).
We remind you that, for obtaining international certificates, there are no age limits for the candidates, as well as no additional expenses for obtaining them. The candidates’ knowledge and skills are all that matter!
