FTP-TUM at the Transylvania Fashion Festival

The International Transylvania Fashion Festival has brought together designers from 8 countries, including representatives of the Faculty of Textiles and Polygraphy within the Technical University of Moldova. The event was organized in Cluj-Napoca, between September 17-19, 2021.

A spectacular team of young and extremely talented designers from University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, George Enescu National University of Arts in Iași, National University of Arts in Bucharest, Faculty of Arts and Design within West University of Timișoara, Faculty of Arts within University of Oradea, together with the renowned fashion designers Iraida FLOREA, Inga BRAGARU, Vlad-Mihnea COVACI, Paul PALM, Vanesa OROS, Luminița BALAZS, and the brands JOLIDON and IMPERO COUTURE, joined the immense effort to promote excellence in the fashion field.

The work put into the collections presented by the participants at the Festival was also appreciated by the dean of the Faculty of Textiles and Polygraphy within TUM, assoc. prof., Dr. Sergiu TRONCIU. The dean was extremely proud of the performance of the FTP-TUM students who displayed their works at the event:

  • Iulia RAILEAN – the collection of her own luxury brand – “JULIER”. From the author’s point of view, luxury brands fully deserve their place in this industry due to the key aspects that make them different, namely: the history behind the brand, product integrity, exclusivity, high quality, historical heritage and distinguished cultural elements;
  • Ana CARAUŞ – the “REUSE” collection, based on the concept of sustainability, embodies in itself the balance we’re deprived of: reused denim, in combination with a unique material, creates a truly valuable duet.
  • Ludmila SECHER – the “ERÖ” clothing collection, inspired by the study of the psychological and emotional development of women at different stages of life. The collection depicts the transition of a woman from her emotional, romantic and sensual self to a stronger and more confident self.

The presentation of clothing collections was followed by various seminars and round tables dedicated to educational activities in the field of design and international projects. Thus, the event became a show for enhancing the visibility of designers on the European stage.

Planned as a complex outdoor event involving street fashion and innovative couture, the Transylvania Fashion Festival has organized a splendid show of presentations of the works of both young designers and established ones. The scale of the event was amplified by the impressive logistics: the catwalk, sound, light and LED screens, installed in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater on the Esplanade of the Center for Urban Culture in the Central Park of Cluj-Napoca, where the event took place. Predictably, the fashion show inspired interest in many designers, brands, fashion houses and universities, national and international guests, models, hair stylists, make-up artists, photographers, bloggers and journalists.

The representatives of FTP-TUM complimented the models who paraded at the Transylvania Fashion Festival and expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the event for the opportunity offered to the Republic of Moldova – and TUM particularly – to participate in this large event. A very big thank you goes to the European Fashion Council, FashionTV (which broadcast the event in 198 countries), and the colleagues from the Pro Transylvania Cultural Association, the organizer of the Transylvania Fashion Festival.
