According to Round University Ranking 2021, the Technical University of Moldova holds the 662nd position worldwide (out of 867 universities in 85 countries) and 1st position nationally, being the only university in the Republic of Moldova included in the international ranking “World University Rankings”. According to the results obtained for the 4 sections of the general ranking, TUM ranks 608th worldwide in the research section.
Round University Ranking evaluates the performance of universities based on 20 indicators grouped into 4 key areas: teaching (40%), research (40%), international diversity (10%), financial sustainability (10%) and 6 fields of study: Arts & Humanities, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Social Sciences, Medical Sciences.
The ranking, published since 2013 by the RUR Rankings Agency in Moscow, is the result of the analysis of information provided by the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP) platform developed by Clarivate Analytics, bibliometric and scientometric data extracted from Web of Science Core Collection databases, Scopus, Google Scholar etc. and by interpreting studies regarding academic reputation.

The corroboration of the presence of a university in several rankings is a confirmation of its value, beyond the accidental presence in a ranking or in a small number of university rankings,” mentioned the vice-rector of TUM, Dinu ȚURCANU.
