Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cornelia CRUCERESCU held an online seminar within the course “Strategic management of sustainable industrial development in the context of European integration” (MgStrDID-2), integrated into the Master programs at FIEB. The course is a core activity of the Erasmus+ project – Jean Monnet Module action – EU4SID. The seminar was attended by experts Ionela TITIREZ, National Coordinator of the EU4Digital Project, and Isae SPÎNU, Head of the Digitalization and IT Support Department of ODIMM, as well as representatives of the External Assessment Commission of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC), now trained in the process of external quality assessment in order to accredit three Master’s degree programs at the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business.
Following the prospects for the digital transformation of Europe by 2030, presented in early March 2021 by the European Union, the seminar addressed several aspects of the EU’s digital transformation, designed to act for the benefit of citizens and businesses and contribute to creating a neutral Europe from a climatic point of view, by 2050.
Experts Ionela TITIREZ, National Coordinator of the EU4Digital Project, and Isae SPÎNU, Head of the Digitalization and IT Support Department of ODIMM, came with more information about ongoing projects in the country, achievements and perspectives in the process of Digital Transformation and building the Information Society.
In this context, Ionela TITIREZ emphasized that the EU4Digital Project, being an EU cooperation tool created by the EU, aims to create and promote joint projects in the Eastern Partnership countries, in accordance with EU rules and practices in the following areas: electronic communications, cybersecurity, innovation, e-commerce, education, e-health. EU4Digital’s objectives include achieving a common roaming area between Eastern partner countries, providing support for cross-border e-commerce that will simplify export procedures, reduce border delays and increase security and transparency of operations, develop common guidelines and standards on e-health services, data exchange and health files, in cooperation with national authorities. Progress has been made in all areas, but there is still a lot of work to carry out, and joint efforts and openness to collaboration are needed in order to move forward, she mentioned.
In turn, Isae SPÎNU mentioned that the SME Digitization Program involves a set of activities with a complex approach, through which it is proposed to support technology transfer and digital development of small and medium enterprises, in order to exploit the innovative potential, including facilitating their access to internal and external markets. The objectives of the program are:
- Improving the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs on e-commerce opportunities and conversion of sales of finished products through e-commerce tools;
- Facilitating SMEs’ access to support services in the way of digitization, planning, understanding and adoption of digitization tools;
- Strengthen the abilities of business support institutions to provide qualified information to SMEs on e-commerce facilitation.
It was mentioned that, in designing its sustainable development path, the Republic of Moldova aligns with the experience and best practices of the EU. Moreover, the Republic of Moldova, as an association partner of the EU and as a member of the Eastern Partnership, benefits from EU aid and financial support in various fields, including the Digital Transformation process.
