ZIPhouse: a Fashion Hackathon with Japanese motifs

On November 5 and 6, at ZIPHOUSE – the Center of Excellence and Acceleration in Design and Technologies for young designers, professionals and entrepreneurs in the field of fashion, the third edition of FASHION HACKATHON took place, which registered a record number of applicants, with only 24 seats available.

The 6 teams accepted for participation in the competition tested their creativity and ingenuity in creating an outfit completely inspired by the works of the Japanese designer Yohji YAMAMOTO. The task consisted of making a conceptual men’s outfit in just 24 hours, divided into 2 consecutive days, but also to recycle clothing items and present the final product to the jury, along with the moodboard and sketch.

The 24 hours meant networking and a lot of work, fun and interaction for the participants and organizers.

The participants also benefited from individual mentoring sessions with the designer and trainer Eugen REABENCHI, who guided them in the process of achieving a final product that meets the requirements and is truly spectacular.

The event was concluded with the spectacular parade of final projects, made in partnership with Avilion Models.

The contest was judged by experts in the field of styling and fashion, including Yulia EFROS, Nathaniel KOWALSKY and Emilian CREȚU.

The competition proved to be intense, but ultimately, based on a final ranking made by the jury, the third edition of Fashion Hackathon was won by the Light Blue team, consisting of 2 first year students and 2 second years students of UTM.

In this year’s competition, positive feedback and impressions prevailed as never before, motivating the organizers to immediately start the preparations for the next edition.
