Four teachers from the Technical University of Moldova joined the jury committee of the National Science and Engineering Competition for students “MoldSEF”, which takes place between the 14th and 16th of February, 2020, in the Theoretical High School “Mihai Marinciuc” from Chișinău. Dinu ȚURCANU and Sergiu CORLAT judge in the “Information Technology” section, and Pavel NICOLAEV and Rodion CIUPERCĂ – in the “Applied Sciences” section.
“MOLD SEF” (Moldova Science and Engineering Fair) is intended for students from the 9th to the 12th grades who, under the coordination of a teacher or a scientific researcher, developed a project (an invention or research) that fits the scope of one of the following thematic categories:
➡️ Sciences and Mathematics (Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Physics, Environmental and Ecosystem Management, Mathematics or in the interdisciplinary fields of the listed sciences);
➡️ Applied Sciences (Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Thermotechnics, Electrotechnics and Electronics, Measurement or Monitoring Equipment and Technologies, Recycling, Economics);
➡️ Information Technology (Computer Science, Algorithms, Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Navigation and Communication, Software Applications).
During this year, at the eighth edition of the National Science and Engineering Competition “Mold SEF” 2020, 74 projects were registered, elaborated by 124 students, guided by 58 teachers/scientists, from 17 districts and municipalities.
The competition is organized by the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation, subordinated to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Association of Companies in the ICT field (ATIC) and with the support of the State Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova. The competition aims to identify, develop and increase interest in students for the study of mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology and natural sciences, technical and engineering sciences. The presence of the four professors of UTM could inspire the students passionate about the technical and engineering disciplines to continue their studies at the Technical University of Moldova – the only engineering inclined institution in the Republic of Moldova.
