Young, talented, eager for new challenges – that is how the team of young researchers from the Faculty of Food Technology, UTM, and the Scientific-Practical Institute of Horticulture and Food Technologies in Chișinău could be characterized. Created within the research project InoBioProd “Innovative product of goat’s milk with increased biological properties”, the team coordinated by Cristina POPOVICI, associate professor, PhD within the FTA-UTM, aims to face the challenges of science even after the successful completion of the respective project.

At the beginning of this year, the young researchers obtained the affirmative decision of the State Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova by no. 9466 of 13.01.2020 regarding the granting of the patent with the title “Process for obtaining functional yogurt from goat’s milk”. The invention relates to the milk industry, in particular to the manufacture of fermented dairy products, namely to the process of obtaining functional yogurt from goat milk. The process, according to the invention, includes the normalization of whole goat milk with skimmed goat milk, its pasteurization, cooling, adding of the milky bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus CNMN – LB-45 and Streptococcus thermophiles CNMN – LB-79, then fermentation until the coagulation forms with a pH 4.5, cooling, adding of CO2-extract of tomatoes, mixing and cooling with subsequent packaging of the finished product. The scientific results of the cooperation of the young researchers are appreciated and supported at an international level by different institutions of higher education: “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse (Bulgaria), National University of Food Technologies of Kiev (Ukraine), “Dunărea de Jos” University in Galați (Romania), Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania), “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi (Romania). At the same time, the team was appreciated with a series of medals and diplomas for participating in various international exhibitions, its scientific results being published in the international magazines Ukrainian Food Journal (, Journal of EcoAgriTourism ( And in the coming months, the young researchers plan deliver presentations through attending international conferences “New trends on Sensing-Monitoring-Telediagnosis for Life Science” and “Agriculture for Life, Life for Agriculture”, organized by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” from Bucharest and respectively from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest.

These young people affirm that the success of the cooperation lies in the passion and dedication with which they follow their objectives.
