FIEB-TUM: International Economic Conference “Competitiveness and Sustainable Development in the context of European Integration”

On November 4, 2021, the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business of TUM organized the International Economic Conference “Competitiveness and Sustainable Development in the Context of European Integration”, online.

The event has already become traditional for FIEB-TUM and is enjoying the participation of both local and foreign researchers. The conference was attended by 88 researchers, representing 25 institutions, including 17 universities and research institutions from abroad: Romania, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Azerbaijan.

The proceedings of the conference were divided into several sections, covering a wide area of economic research:

  • European policies and European integration;
  • Sustainable development, innovation and the digital economy;
  • Circular economy: actualities, challenges, trends;
  • Management and Leadership;
  • 21st century marketing;
  • Finance & Accounting.

The conference was organized with the support of the national scientific research project “Development of the mechanism for forming the circular economy in the Republic of Moldova” and the Jean Monnet Module project “Sustainable Industrial Development in the context of European Integration” – EU4SID, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program.

An excellent collaboration was provided by the co-organizers, the strategic partners of FIEB – “Stefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, represented by the dean Carmen NASTASE and her team, and the National Institute of Economic Research, represented by the Project Director Rodica PERCIUN and her colleagues.

We also had the pleasure to meet prof. Valerie MOCK (USA) again – a tireless and extraordinary friend of TUM, who presented the report “Using international collaboration among universities to increase competitive advantages and improve sustainability”, resulting from the recent Fulbright project at the Faculty of Economic Engineering and Business, whose objective lies in developing the partnership between FIEB and American universities. Notably, the first results are already there. The Conference was attended by prof. Zhen ZHU, Director of Faculty Excellence, Director of International Engagement, Co-Director of the Center for Innovation and Change Leadership, Suffolk University, USA.

A noteworthy aspect is the remarkable presence of universities and research institutions in Romania, represented by 18 participants, and those in Ukraine, represented by 12 scientific researchers.

The work of the Conference was an exceptional opportunity for the exchange of ideas and opinions in the most important fields of economic research – a platform for initiating new collaborative activities for the benefit of partner institutions.
