FEIE: visit from the coordinator of the CEEPUS Mobility Network

During the period November 10-13, 2019, the Faculty of Energy and Electrical Engineering was visited by the representative of the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, prof. Galia MARINOVA, coordinator of the CEEPUS network CIII-BG-1103-01-1617 “Modeling, Simulation and Computer- aided Design in Engineering and Management”.

The CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) program is a university network of mobility in the central European space that finances student and teacher mobility. Specific for CEEPUS is that the scholarships are awarded by the host country (established by law at a national level), and all correspondence and reporting are done online.

The CIII-BG-1103-01-1617 network includes 25 universities from all 16 CEEPUS member states and covers a large area related to modeling, simulation, computer-aided design in engineering and management. Responsible for organizing the mobility was appointed associate professor, Dr. Ilie NUCA, head of the Electrical Engineering Department, the local coordinator of the network. The mobility program included coordinating project activities, teaching hours for FEIE students (modeling circuits and systems, modeling and optimizing smart grids), sharing experiences and developing opportunities for academic relationships between the universities.

At the meeting with FEIE students and teachers, Prof. Galia MARINOVA delivered information on the organization of the study processes and those related to the Technical University of Sofia, as well as the mobility opportunities offered by the CEEPUS mobility program. The possibilities of collaboration with the similar faculty from UT Sofia were approached both academically and scientifically on common issues in the field. The same issues have been addressed regarding the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications.

During the meeting with the vice-rector of UTM for financial problems and international relations, prof., Dr. Larisa BUGAIAN, and the head of the International Relations Service, prof., Dr. Carolina TIMCO, a series of common concerns were identified, including the opportunity to sign a collaboration agreement regarding the exchange of students and teachers, teaching and research activities, collaboration in the scientific and academic activities, respectively, the exchange of information, teaching and scientific materials.

Our guest had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the FEIE and FET faculties, the Tekwill Center of Excellence, the FabLab Engineering Center, UTM Park and had an extensive social-cultural program.

A proper organization of this visit would not have been possible without the personal input of Mrs. Corina GUȚU-CHETRUȘCA and of Mr. Iurie NUCA, responsible for international relations at FEIE and the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Prof. Galia MARINOVA’s visit to the CEEPUS mobility program opened up new opportunities for collaboration between UTM and UT Sofia, including through ERASMUS+ mobility programs and Orizont 2020 research programs.
