Students’ Fashion Day at UTM Turns Chișinău into an International Runway

On 26 June, the Technical University of Moldova hosted Students’ Fashion Day 2026, organised by the Faculty of Design. The event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.

This year’s edition brought together a broader international line-up, with teams from eight universities taking part. Participants came from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Serbia.

The 2026 edition featured representatives from:

UTM – Technical University of Moldova, Republic of Moldova
UVT – West University of Timișoara, Romania
UNAGE – “George Enescu” National University of Arts in Iași, Romania
UAV – “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, Romania
UTGA – “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, Romania
UO – University of Oradea, Romania
UNTDK – Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Ukraine
UNS – University of Novi Sad, Serbia

On the runway, the audience saw coursework collections, as well as final bachelor’s projects by emerging young designers. The collections explored themes ranging from butterfly metamorphosis and femininity to exaggerated human forms and combinations of grunge and romantic styles.

At the end of the presentations, the UTM team, as host of the event, selected its favourite collection. The award went to Ana Farîma from “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, Romania, for the collection BODAPROSTI.

Students’ Fashion Day also included an audience award. This year, it went to BLACK ANARCHY, presented by the “George Enescu” National University of Arts in Iași, Romania.

The event created a space for dialogue and exchange between design schools, professors and students. For many graduates, it was their first opportunity to present their work to a wider audience as designers. It was a moment when ideas developed in studios and workshops came to life in front of the public.
