Today, Dormitory No. 8 of the Technical University of Moldova officially reopened its doors after a complete renovation. Recently refurbished with the support of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, and equipped with new furniture and digital appliances, it is now ready to welcome students into a comfortable environment that meets European standards. The dormitory has over 200 student accommodations, and the total value of the renovation works amounted to 8.5 million lei, in addition to 500,000 lei worth of furniture. The investment included the replacement of windows, doors, and the roof, a full renovation of kitchens and bathrooms, new flooring, furnishing with modern furniture, as well as the installation of a high-performance Wi-Fi network and a biometric access control system.
“We want every young person who chooses UTM to have not only modern learning conditions, but also a dormitory where they feel at home. Dormitory No. 8, fully renovated, is a great example of that. We will continue these efforts, because our students deserve living conditions that meet European standards,” said the UTM rector, Professor Viorel Bostan, PhD, Dr. habilitat.
For his part, the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, emphasized the importance of such investments for the academic environment:
“We fully support the renovation of student dormitories across all universities in the Republic of Moldova. It is an investment in the quality of life for young people and in their motivation to build their future here, at home. The modern conditions offered at UTM show that it is possible, and that higher education in Moldova has a future.”
Today, every space in Dormitory No. 8 is adapted to the current needs of students, in an environment that prioritizes safety, comfort, and student well-being.
The transformation of Dormitory No. 8 is the result of the vision and efforts of UTM rector Viorel Bostan, who has brought major changes to the university campuses. The results speak for themselves: UTM students now benefit from conditions that meet European standards.
Several students attended the event and expressed their excitement about the renovations. They said they were eager to move into the renovated dormitory and continue their studies in a comfortable and safe environment.
Every year, the Technical University of Moldova carries out renovation and modernization works across its campuses, reaffirming its continued priority to improve living and study conditions for students.
