The Technical University of Moldova Launches the “CEIM: Educational and Innovative Center for Informatics and Mathematical Modeling – Grigore Moisil” Project

The Technical University of Moldova has launched an ambitious project to modernize Auditorium 3-609, located within the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics. This space will be dedicated entirely to advancing education and fostering innovation in informatics and mathematical modeling. The project, named “CEIM: Educational and Innovative Center for Informatics and Mathematical Modeling – Grigore Moisil,” is being developed with the support of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM) as part of their 2024 non-reimbursable funding program.

The modernization of Auditorium 3-609 at UTM was officially launched in a special event attended by UTM Rector, Prof. Dr. Viorel Bostan, and the Dean of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dumitru Ciorbă. During the event, both academic leaders delivered speeches, extending their gratitude to the DRRM for their valuable support.

In his speech, Rector Viorel Bostan highlighted the importance of such initiatives for the future of technical education in the Republic of Moldova. He emphasized how these projects are essential in bringing UTM in line with the digitalization standards of leading universities in the region. Mr. Bostan also noted the contribution of these projects to shaping future leaders in IT and mathematics, expressing deep appreciation to the DRRM for their ongoing support and for the opportunity to honor a distinguished figure like Grigore Moisil.

DRRM backs projects and initiatives that aid citizens of the Republic of Moldova, with the objective of strengthening the shared language, culture, religion, spirituality, and history that form the foundation of the relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Dean Dumitru Ciorbă also underlined the significance of this project, noting that while the space is important, the activities that will take place within this auditorium are even more critical. Through projects like this, UTM commits to supporting excellence and research.

Auditorium 3-609 at the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering will be fully modernized and equipped according to the highest technological standards, becoming a hub for learning and innovation in informatics and mathematics. This space will serve as a tribute to Grigore Moisil and participate in the promotion of academic excellence in the Republic of Moldova.

Project coordinator, Lecturer Dr. Daniela Istrati, specified that the new equipment will include an interactive touch screen, smart TV, LED display wall, sound system, conference microphone and camera, surveillance camera, Wacom Cintiq graphic tablet, and more.

In addition to the state-of-the-art technology, Auditorium 3-609 will be outfitted with high-quality furniture designed to ensure both functionality and comfort for users. A display cabinet with glass doors will host a permanent gallery dedicated to Grigore Moisil, providing an elegant space for showcasing his achievements. The auditorium’s hallway will be furnished with comfortable sofas, ergonomic chairs, and modern tables, creating a welcoming and well-equipped environment for students and faculty. This investment in quality furniture reflects UTM’s commitment to providing a contemporary and inspiring educational space.

Through this project, UTM aims to preserve and promote the cultural and scientific legacy of Grigore Moisil, inspiring young people and fostering interest in informatics and mathematics. With a capacity of 70 seats, the auditorium is designed to host lectures, thesis presentations, and conference sessions. Spanning 72 square meters, the room offers a conducive environment for academic dialogue and the exchange of ideas, enriching the university’s vibrant atmosphere.

The project’s budget is structured to cover various essential aspects of modernizing and equipping Auditorium 3-609 “Grigore Moisil” in line with the proposed objectives. The total project budget is 33,300 euros, of which 30,000 euros represent the non-reimbursable funding requested from the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM).

The “CEIM: Educational and Innovative Center for Informatics and Mathematical Modeling – Grigore Moisil” project will be implemented in phases, with each stage bringing significant improvements to UTM’s educational infrastructure. Once completed, the new space will become a modern and functional center for academic activities and scientific events, thereby strengthening academic excellence at UTM.

Thus, UTM reaffirms its commitment to attracting and implementing similar projects, solidifying its position as a leader in technical education and innovation in the Republic of Moldova.
