In an atmosphere filled with excitement and emotion, on July 3, 2024, the Technical University of Moldova celebrated the Class of 2024 at the annual “Graduates’ Gala,” an event dedicated to recognizing the academic achievements of its students. “I believe this is the most emotional speech I give every year in front of the graduates. Perhaps more important than the welcome speech to those who step through the university’s doors on September 1, because at this moment I ask myself a very important question: ‘Have we met your expectations? Have we succeeded in fostering successful graduates whom we can continue to be proud of?’ And every time, the answer is the same: YES, WE HAVE SUCCEEDED, because the entire UTM community, for 60 years, has made a considerable effort to be a top institution and a true temple of science and innovation, preparing generations of engineers, technologists, architects, and economists. Together, we will continue to achieve this,” said Mr. Bostan.

The UTM Rector encouraged the 1,802 graduates and all 9,300 active UTM students to excel both personally and professionally, adding: “Be proud of UTM, because together, we are a force.”

In conclusion, the rector mentioned, “I wish you a good journey, a brilliant career that I am sure you will have. Know that we will miss you and hope you do not disappoint us. Good luck!”

The event continued with speeches from distinguished guests.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, shared his vision for the future of the country, highlighting the crucial role of young specialists in building a prosperous nation integrated into the European Union.

“Engineers create the future, and I urge you to embrace this responsibility, because you are the future of the country. New technologies are developing at an astonishing speed today, and you know how to apply these technologies in practice so that we can improve people’s welfare and make their lives easier. Indeed, first engineers dream of the future, then they create it, and only then will we feel the impact of new technologies or products on our lives. I am glad that from UTM’s academic environment, we have prominent individuals recognized internationally. You are the ones who create the future. Once again, thank you and please remember this responsibility,” declared the Prime Minister.

The Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, in his moralizing speech, underlined the strategic contribution of the Technical University of Moldova in transforming and modernizing education.

“Congratulations for making it to this point. You have managed to face all the challenges you have encountered during this time. If you are here today, it is because of the tenacity and effort you have put in. You deserve all the applause. You made a very inspired choice. You chose UTM to be your home for a few years, and I believe that was the best decision you could have made. There is a lot of enthusiasm, dynamism, openness to change, and an innovative spirit here, which makes UTM competitive not only in Moldova but also regionally and locally, for which we must congratulate each other. When I am asked about a worthwhile place to study, I feel extremely proud when I can say: choose UTM! And this is all your merit—it is possible here, in the Republic of Moldova.”

Minister Perciun also offered valuable advice to the young graduates: Choose a job that brings you new experiences; Invest in yourself. Invest in your experience today, and the remuneration will come after you become very good specialists; Be persistent; Try to do something new every day; Be empathetic, generous; Love the Republic of Moldova, concluded the minister.
