On December 15, 2023, the UTM Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics (FCIM) hosted an exciting event – the grand finale of the “EarthRover – 2023” Student Competition on Mobile Systems and IoT Services, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering (DIIS).

The theme of this year’s competition was all about the latest trends in the IT field, focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence and Optimization algorithms for navigating a maze by a mobile robot.
Eight teams of talented students from several FCIM study programs: “Computer Science and Networks,” “Applied Electronics,” “Control and Computer Science,” “Robotics and Mechatronics,” and “Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies,” participated in the competition. The winners were awarded some fantastic prizes, thanks to the generous support of UTM’s sponsors and partners.

Competition Results:
1st Place: Team “Luminița 666” – Ian PERCIUN, Maxim PROCOP, Vlad CRIVIȚCHI, Ecaterina TICO;
2nd Place: Team “CR-222” – Ilie ZLOI, Stanislav CIOLPAN, Valentin PREPELIȚA;
3rd Place: Team “Stanei” – Stepan IULARJI, Serghei LAZAREV, Anghelina MARTÎNIUC, and Team “SkyTech Lab” – Roman ANDREEV, Andrian CHEPTENE, Alexandru RAILEAN, Xenia MASLOVA.
