The meritorious results of the UTM representatives at FOREN 2022

Two UTM representatives were awarded diplomas within the Regional Energy Forum for Central and Eastern Europe – FOREN 2022: Cristina EFREMOV, PhD, univ. lect., head of the International Relations Service, and Dumitru BRAGA, PhD, univ. lect. at the Faculty of Energetics and Electrical Engineering of Technical University of Moldova.

Over 70 specialists presented technical-scientific papers during the FOREN 2022 communication and poster sessions.

Ms. Cristina EFREMOV presented the scientific paper “ROADMAP FOR THE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TRANSITION BY 2050 IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA” in the section TPS 1 “Strategic views in the transition of the energy sector in the Digital Age”. The topic, as well as the chosen approach, have attracted a lot of interest, as the work responds to a real need for analysis and debate, thus becoming a platform for solutions that would help overcome the crisis and address the challenges faced by the energy sectors in the Central and South-Eastern European region, along with the possibility to identify potential solutions for cooperation in the field of energy, given the acute problems currently encountered by the energy community, especially in the Republic of Moldova.

The TPS 2 section included the scientific paper presented by Mr. Dumitru BRAGA, referring to “New technologies in the energy sector: storage, hydrogen, energy efficiency, energy quality”. The topic of the paper – “THE ROLE OF HYDROGEN IN THE TRANSITION TO 100% ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES” – addresses the idea that, through global implications and the development of actions at regional and local level to overcome the energy crisis, the promotion of Hydrogen contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Many of the solutions proposed require in-depth discussions on issues specific to each area of the region.

At the same time, during the 10 events of FOREN 2022, a series of important topics were analyzed, such as:

  • Security of energy supply, energy markets, sustainability and accessibility in the energy transition (RED);
  • Black Sea energy potential and investment opportunities (RTF 1);
  • CME energy transition tools. For better implementation in the EEA (WF 1);
  • Decarbonated Hydrogen. Challenges and opportunities in the EU (RTF-WEC);
  • Conventional energy resources for a smooth transition (RTF 2);
  • Infrastructure projects in the period of sustainable financing (WF 2);
  • Higher education in energy transition (RTF 3);
  • Dynamic resilience for energy and gas systems in the region (WF 3);
  • Prospects of innovation and technology (RTF 4);
  • Energy efficiency and behavior of electricity users (WF 4).

We wish you success in your activity of research, development and innovation, dear UTM representatives!
