The first training module in Cyber Security for teachers of pre-university education

During September 2019, the Research and Training Center in the field of Cyber Security (CCISC) of UTM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova, will organize 4 training modules in the field of Cyber Security. The training is carried out within the Erasmus+ project “Bachelor’s degree and professional Master’s degree in the development, administration, management, protection of information systems and networks in companies of Moldova, Kazakhstan, Vietnam – LMPI”.

The modules are intended for computer science teachers from colleges, lyceums and schools, and for the first 50 people enrolled, the training will be free. Each module will take over two days, with a total of 30 hours: 16 hours direct contact and 14 hours self-training, with the granting of a credit point (1 ECTS). The trainers can take the whole course, or choose one of the modules. At the end of each module, a participation certificate will be granted, which will include the module name, the number of hours and the number of ECTS awarded.

The first module “Introduction to cyber security” will be delivered already on September 7 and 8, 2019 at CCISC. Within the module will be presented the main types of cyber attacks, elements related to the motivations of the attackers, as well as notions meant to increase the degree of specialization of the students in the field of cyber security. Also, participants will be involved in practical demonstrations in which the level of awareness of the dangers posed by cyber threats will be tested. When and how the cyber environment can become a risk factor are questions to which CCISC trainers will provide answers including by simulating cyber attacks.

The Center for Research and Training in the field of Cyber Security (CCISC) was established at UTM in 2016 with the support of the project “Cyber Defense Laboratory and Training at the Technical University of Moldova”, funded by the NATO program “Science for peace and security”, with the support of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova and the Special Telecommunications Center of the Republic of Moldova, as an organization based on cooperation in the field of research and education. Auditors, network administrators and security officers share the lessons learned and find, with UTM researchers and teachers, solutions to the challenges they face. At the center of CCISC’s activity are numerous security specialists from various organizations and universities working together to help the entire information security community. CCISC courses represent a real high quality standard worldwide, and the results of the analysis presented to the audience will cover everything, to the smallest details.

The project “Bachelor’s degree and professional Master’s degree in the development, administration, management, protection of information systems and networks in companies from Moldova, Kazakhstan, Vietnam – LMPI” is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program.
