The MHELM project launches the “Leadership and Management” training program

As of October 6, 2021, the consortium consisting of seven universities in the Republic of Moldova (UTM, USM, ASEM, USMF, UASM, USARB, USC), partners in the MHELM project, launches training courses within the “Leadership and Management” Continuing Education Program, aimed at leaders and managers of higher education institutions, as well as university staff aspiring to the career of a university manager.

The objective of the program is to train leadership and management skills relevant to higher education, focusing on governance, strategic planning and management, suitable for being applied in Moldovan universities. Developed within the project 609656-EPP-1-2019-1-MD-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP MOLDOVA HIGHER EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT, funded with the support of the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, this project corresponds and contributes to the implementation of the national priority of the Republic Moldova: “Governance, strategic planning and management of higher education institutions”.

After the piloting carried out within the partner universities during January – May 2021, the program went through the process of external quality assessment for authorization, followed by the issuance of the authorization order by MEC on 19.07.2021, based on the decision of ANACEC.

The training program consists of 4 modules: Leadership and Management in Higher Education Institutions, Personnel Management and Organizational Culture in Higher Education Institutions, Resource Management in Higher Education Institutions, and Change Management and Organizational Development in Higher Education Institutions. According to the design of the training program, each module ends with a paper, and the training program with a project, developed in groups.

In order to achieve the training objectives of HEI managers, several training rounds are to be organized. The first round will start on October 6, 2021 and will last 4 months. The classes are to be conducted in online format with the application of various interactive training methods, with the active involvement of trainees in activities and discussions. The trainers will be members of the teams from the partner universities of the MHELM project, who were trained in the first round of the Leadership and Management piloting program.
