Abul Paasil Ahamed, a student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Technical University of Moldova, spent a semester at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Forestry in Sofia, Bulgaria, through the Erasmus+ programme. The mobility gave him the opportunity to study in a new academic environment, take part in practical activities, and experience student life in another European country.
As he prepares to enter his third year of Veterinary Medicine, Abul says that being selected for Erasmus+ was an important step in his academic journey. He also mentions the support he received from the Erasmus+ Centre at UTM, especially during the preparation and adjustment period.
At the host university, Abul attended courses and practical sessions in Veterinary Medicine. The hands-on activities, the guidance of professors, and the exposure to a different teaching system helped him better understand the subjects he was studying and gain more confidence in his abilities.
“The courses and practical sessions helped me understand Veterinary Medicine better. Even though the workload was demanding, I managed to balance my studies and practical activities.”
The semester also brought challenges. Adapting to a new academic environment, dealing with administrative procedures, and adjusting to life in a new city required patience and organization. Abul says that these moments helped him become more resilient and more aware of his own path.
Beyond the academic experience, the Erasmus+ semester gave him the chance to discover Sofia, its culture, and places connected to his field of study, including zoological parks and natural history museums. During his stay, he also visited Varna, a coastal city in Bulgaria known for its beaches and cultural sites.
“Some days were not easy, but each experience taught me something valuable. I left Sofia with more confidence and with the motivation to work harder for my goals.”
