The Technical University of Moldova marks a turning point in its history: beginning January 1, 2026, it officially becomes a member institution of the GEMINAE network, part of the prestigious European university alliance UNITA – Universitas Montium. This accession represents both a recognition of the excellence cultivated across all areas of the university’s activity and an open gateway to a borderless future for its students and academic staff.
GEMINAE aims to broaden the exchange of best practices developed within the UNITA university alliance, formed by higher education institutions that share common values and aspirations across seven countries – Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Romania, Switzerland, and Ukraine. This integration places UTM on the map of major European universities and stands as a strategic step that strengthens the university’s position within the European educational and research landscape.
The accession of the Technical University of Moldova was officially confirmed through a letter of acceptance signed by Professor Ramon Gonzalo Garcia, President of the UNITA Governance Council and Rector of Universidad Pública de Navarra. He welcomed the inclusion of our institution in the GEMINAE network, expressing confidence that UTM’s presence will contribute substantial value through collaboration in education and research.
For UTM, this membership is more than an honorary distinction; it is a catalyst for transformation. The academic community will benefit from:
- Access to the UNITA Alliance for developing new partnerships with universities from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Romania, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
- An invitation to participate in the network’s annual conference.
- Eligibility for UNITA educational exchange programs and joint study programs.
- Access to UNITA calls for research and innovation.
- Participation in the GEMINAE Best Practice Award Call.
- International visibility through inclusion in the network directory, newsletters, and promotional materials.
The Rector of the Technical University of Moldova, Professor Viorel Bostan, PhD, emphasized the significance of this moment:
“Joining the GEMINAE network of the UNITA Alliance is a historic step and an exceptional event for our university. This collaboration opens new horizons for international cooperation and educational innovation for students, faculty, and researchers, strengthening UTM’s status as a global university of excellence.”
With this pioneering move on the international stage, the Technical University of Moldova reaffirms its European vocation and its strong commitment to excellence, becoming an active contributor to shaping the future of education, research, and innovation.
