On October 25, Her Majesty Margareta and Prince Consort Radu conferred Royal Scholarships of the Romanian Royal House to meritorious students, among which two students of the Technical University of Moldova: the King Michael Scholarship was awarded to Victor ROTARU (Veterinary Medicine student, 5th year), and the Queen Anne Scholarship – to Olivia IVANUȚA (Agronomy student, 2nd year).
The event takes place annually, on King Michael’s birthday, in the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace of Bucharest. For this year’s celebration, the UTM students were accompanied by Univ. Prof., Dr. Rodica SIMINIUC, director of the UTM Doctoral School.
Two other scholarships went to students of USM – the King Ferdinand Scholarship was offered to Cristian Crudu (2nd year) and the Queen Maria Scholarship to Evelina Descalui (2nd year). Two more scholarships were awarded to students of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest – the King Michael Scholarship to Olteanu Alen Luis Gabriel (Horticulture student, 4th year) and the Queen Anne Scholarship to Nedelcu Adelina (Landscape Design student, 3rd year).
“We express our respect and consideration for the Royal Family – an everlasting support for young people, who have always considered that a good education is the source of all good in the world and the right path towards the future, as learning is the finest wealth and beauty of man”, noted the young students.
On the birthday of King Michael I, Her Majesty Margareta the Custodian of the Crown and His Royal Highness Prince Radu established the “King Michael I” and “Queen Anne” Scholarships, granted annually to students in Bucharest and Chișinău. The Royal Scholarships have become a continuing tradition of supporting and encouraging national education by the Romanian Crown. Several years ago, the Custodian of the Crown and Prince Radu introduced the King Carol I and Queen Elizabeth Scholarships (offered annually in Bucharest to ASE students) and the King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria Scholarships (offered annually in Chișinău to AȘM University students).
