EU4SID Summer School, 3rd day

On June 15, 2022, EU4SID Summer School greeted a special guest: His Excellency the Minister Plenipotentiary Marius Ciprian TOTH, in charge of ad-interim affairs of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.

In his speech, the Minister spoke about the path taken by Romania in the process of joining the European Union, but also about the successes recorded after accession. The presentation included an analysis of the financing programs that Romania benefited from at the pre-accession stage, but also the degree of absorption of the structural funds after accession.

The accession process is based on following very clear rules, which are important to be applied by the Republic of Moldova also: society must be consolidated, and a significant role in informing the citizens belongs to higher education institutions.

As a university teacher himself, the ambassador was able to captivate the audience with his speech. Mr. Toth expressed interest in organizing new meetings in the near future, in which current European topics for students will be addressed. His Excellency wished them a wonderful vacation and urged them to apply for Master’s degrees in European studies, to which they have free access in various European countries, to assimilate as much international knowledge and experience as possible, including daily life experience, and, after graduation, to return back home and contribute to the European development of the Republic of Moldova.

Other topics discussed by the project team members included: the EU Treaties, EU Trade Policy, the specifics of sustainable development for European industry with reference to the New Industrial Policy, the Driving Forces of European Industry and the New Circular Economy Action Plan.

We remind you that the EU4SID Summer School is organized within the project Jean Monnet Module EU4SID “Sustainable industrial development in the context of European integration”, Nr. 610848-EPP-1-2019-1-MD-EPPJMO-MODULE, which is implemented at FIEB, UTM, with the support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
