Students at the Technical University of Moldova can take their studies far beyond the country’s borders through the university’s international partnerships, with opportunities to learn in classrooms across Europe and other regions of the world. These opportunities were the focus of UTM’s Internationalization Week.
The event brought together representatives of partner universities, teaching staff, researchers, international students and members of the wider academic community. Over several days, UTM became a meeting point for conversations about studying abroad, academic cooperation and international projects.
Speaking about the value of studying abroad, Professor Lino Bianco from the University of Malta said:
“Today, there are real opportunities to travel, study and communicate more easily. I encourage students to go abroad. It is an experience that helps you make friends, discover other cultures and grow both professionally and personally.”
Students also learned how to apply for academic mobility programs and what studying abroad can offer in practice. Representatives of partner universities presented available programs, opportunities and concrete examples of international cooperation.
Patricia Moraru, a FCIM student, shared her Erasmus+ experience in Portugal:
“I spent five months in Portugal, at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, and made friends with students from many countries, including Italy, Ukraine and Poland. These connections are valuable both for your career and your social life.”
For students, internationalization means direct access to new academic experiences. It gives them the chance to discover different teaching methods, work in multicultural environments and return to UTM with fresh perspectives for their professional development.
Internationalization Week concluded on May 15 in the park of the UTM Museum of Technology. In a relaxed outdoor setting, students spoke with representatives of partner universities, took part in quizzes and learned more about career opportunities available in the Republic of Moldova.
UTM is becoming increasingly connected to the global academic community. Through Internationalization Week, the university continues to expand partnerships with institutions in Europe and beyond, giving students and professors access to mobility programs and joint projects that bring international experience closer to education in the Republic of Moldova.
Internationalization Day has been part of UTM’s calendar for several years, while Internationalization Week has now reached its second edition. The expanded format brings partner universities into direct dialogue with the UTM community, opening conversations about mobility, projects and academic cooperation.
